Ground station leader Kongsberg Satellite Services (KSAT) is expanding its collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), with KSAT integrating AWS Ground Station capabilities into its commercial offerings.
KSAT operates the largest global satellite ground communication network with more than 200 antennas at more than 40 locations around the world. AWS operates the AWS Ground Station as a Service (GSaaS) Partner Program.
Under the deal announced Wednesday, KSAT will integrate cloud services into its global network and offer access to both AWS Ground Station’s and KSAT’s antennas to their customers. AWS customers will now be able to access KSAT’s global satellite ground station network and operation services as well as the services and tools of AWS.
The companies said that combining KSAT’s expertise in satellite ground solutions with AWS Cloud will bring new opportunities in satellite data processing, low latency data delivery, and mission operations.
“By integrating AWS Ground Station with our own globally distributed infrastructure, we’re able to offer more connectivity, enhancing our unmatched customer support offerings, at scale. AWS is the leader in cloud enabled solutions for space missions, and bringing together our capabilities is powerful,” KSAT CEO Rolf Skatteboe commented.
