SES Taps Mission Microwave for Ka-Band BUCs for User Terminals

SES has selected Mission Microwave to provide Ka-band block upconverters (BUC) for high throughput customer user terminals for the company’s O3b mPOWER system. Mission Microwave said in a recent release the order comes after  years of work between the companies to bring advanced solid state technologies into the O3b mPOWER system.

SES commented that Mission Microwave was able to expand the gateway and user terminal offerings to give O3b mPOWER customers more choice with their networks. The first two batches of O3b mPOWER have been launched. 

The agreement is for 40-watt Ka-band BUCs and terms of the deal were not disclosed.
