Measat has selected the Hughes Network Systems Jupiter System ground platform to enable broadband services on the Measat-3D high-throughput satellite (HTS), the companies announced to- day. Measat-3D will leverage the Jupiter System gateway and terminals to extend its CONNECTme NOW satellite broadband services throughout Malaysia.

Measat-3D launched in June 2022 and entered commercial service in July 2022, increasing the company’s broadband capacity from 3 Gbps to 30 Gbps. The new satellite delivers broadband service with download speeds of up to 100 Mbps. The latest Jupiter technology incorporates software-defined satellite networking, inroute reconfiguration, and a new system on a chip in every user terminal.

Yau Chyong Lim, Measat COO said within the next three years, the Hughes Jupiter System will serve more than 2 million unconnected citizens across Malaysia.
