Kymeta completed the first shipment of its electronically steered Hawk u8 OneWeb Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) terminal, the company announced Monday, March 13 at SATELLITE 2023. Kymeta is the first to commercially deliver electronically steered user terminals for OneWeb’s LEO network.

Kymeta and OneWeb now plan to demonstrate the solution across remote locations in the United Kingdom and in Canada. Kymeta user terminals are available for fixed applications and will soon be available for communications on the move for land and sea.

Kymeta has been working on this u8-based user terminal for OneWeb since 2021, and last year became a OneWeb distribution partner. OneWeb CEO Neil Masterson said Kymeta’s terminal gives OneWeb’s customers a new choice of terminal to connect to OneWeb’s LEO network.

The satellite industry is entering an exciting new era, as every major industry from agriculture to defense can increasingly tap mobile broadband as an efficient and effective means to transform their operations,” said Walter Berger, president and co-CEO of Kymeta. “The race to capitalize on the opportunity will be won by a group relay, not a single-company sprint.”
