[Via Satellite 05-26-2015] Advantech Wireless has released a new 50W X-Band Gallium Nitride (GaN)-based Solid State Power Block/Block UpConverter (SSPB/BUC) for tactical military applications. The 50W GaN X-band weatherproof BUCs are constructed in a compact cooling enclosure specially designed for outdoor operations. Each weighs less than 3.5 kilograms and is part of a series of GaN hub-mounted, up-converter transmitters. The units are designed to support new Wideband Global Satcom (WGS)-certified terminals and can perform in harsh environments such as man-pack terminal deployments.
