NASA awarded Redwire a single award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract with a $25 million ceiling for biotechnology support on the International Space Station. Under the contract, Redwire is eligible to receive task orders for biotechnology facilities, on-orbit operations support, mission integration, and related services on the ISS.
Redwire announced the IDIQ on Aug. 28, which has a duration of five years. The company will manage, integrate, and facilitate experiments and support on-orbit operations for NASA-funded research investigations aboard the ISS.
Redwire recently received a $2.5 million task order under this contract to support drug development investigations on the ISS using its PIL-BOX technology. Redwire’s PIL-BOX technology is a pharmaceutical lab designed for space. The company has flown 28 PIL-BOX systems in space, and has crystalized 17 compounds on the ISS, including insulin.
“Redwire’s biotechnology facilities have been an integral part of NASA’s ISS research strategy, supporting an increased throughput of critical scientific research and expanding on-orbit capabilities to accommodate cutting-edge science in drug development, cancer research, and tissue engineering,” said John Vellinger, president of Redwire In-Space Industries.
