Viasat reports that its JetXP business aviation in-flight broadband service has five times more capacity across the Eastern United States with the use of Honeywell JetWave or Gogo Plane Simple Ka-band terminals.
The development was achieved as part of Viasat’s business aviation enhancement program. Last year, Viasat brought together the former Inmarsat Jet ConneX and Viasat Ka services under one unified brand, JetXP. Viasat also uncapped IFC speeds for the service last year and made other improvements with network prioritization and optimized satellite asset management.
Viasat said the service can now support applications like high-definition video conferencing, content streaming, and generative AI on multiple devices at the same time. Viasat reports the increase in performance has brought in positive feedback from customers.
According to its recent financial results, Viasat had 2,100 business aircraft in service at the end of July.
“JetXP already delivers our best ever in-flight broadband experience for business aviation by unleashing the full power of our global Ka-band network. We’re excited to now introduce our highest ever capacity increase over the United States for business aviation customers in direct response to their specific requirements,” Kai Tang, head of Business Aviation at Viasat, said. “This is only possible due to Viasat’s dense capacity and flexibility, marking yet another example of our continuous innovation and focus on customer experience.”
