Satellite data analytics firm Spire Maritime has entered into a strategic technology partnership with AXSMarine to provide enhanced maritime intelligence services for chartering and commodity markets, the companies announced April 12.

“We are delighted to further enrich our comprehensive package of AIS derived Maritime Intelligence, with the addition of the satellite AIS data feed by Spire,” AXSMarine CEO Jacques Goudchaux said in a statement. “Their fast-growing and promising constellation of nanosatellites will add value to the over 10,000 individual users, relying on our analytical and chartering solutions on a daily basis to support a fair number of strategic decisions.”

Spire Maritime is a newly created division of Earth observation constellation operator Spire Global, which provides advanced weather data, maritime analytics, and aircraft tracking. AXSMarine, which typically serves drybulk, container, and tanker shipping markets will now offer Spire Automatic Identification System (AIS) support to its chartering solutions and Trade Flows module for micro and macro analysis of both ships and commodity movements.

Spire Maritime and AXSMarine said that in addition to making predictive data available to its customers, users can now expect features that detect vessel ownership and provide historical data on vessel usage or cargo patterns.
