Sidus Space signed an MoU this week with Saturn Satellite Networks to work together on a low-cost, high-performance Geostationary Orbit (GEO) satellite solution.
Saturn Satellite Networks is developing the SBN-X platform, which is designed as a more affordable GEO satcom offering with both a 5kW analog payload and 100 Gbps digital payload system.
The companies said that Saturn intends to award Sidus a scope of work that includes assembly, integration, and testing (AIT) at Sidus’ manufacturing facilities in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Saturn also intends to acquire certain satellite subcomponents and mechanical component engineering and manufacturing services from Sidus Space.
The companies said this collaboration will broaden market access and expand their capabilities for “new and emerging GEO communications needs.”
“Our partnership with Sidus Space strengthens the foundation of the SBN-X platform, combining their agile manufacturing capabilities with our vision for transforming GEO communications,” Saturn CEO Tom Choi said. “Together, we’re positioned to rapidly deliver next-generation satellite solutions, at a significantly lower price point, to meet the rapidly evolving demands of expanding global markets.”
Choi launched Saturn Satellite Networks in 2019 to pursue smaller, more affordable GEO spacecraft.
