After achieving success on its second launch, Isar Aerospace signed a five-launch contract with rideshare provider SEOPS during World Space Business Week. This is in addition to an Isar launch SEOPS ordered last year, for a total of six launches on the Spectrum rocket.
The missions announced Sept. 15 will be launched between 2028 and 2030 from Andøya Space in Norway and Spaceport Nova Scotia in Canada. Isar Aerospace reports its 2028 manifest is now closed.
Launch availability has been a major concern in the space industry recently with SpaceX Elon Musk recently stating that SpaceX will “wind down” Falcon 9 to shift engineering and production resources to Starship. SpaceX is reportedly not taking new Falcon 9 commercial reservations, according to a Space Intel Report article this week.
“Partnering for six missions with Isar Aerospace’s launch vehicle Spectrum reflects our confidence in their team and adds a powerful European capability to Waymaker,” said Evan Hoyt, president of SEOPS. “The access layer of the future has to be resilient, with real choice across vehicles, providers and geographies. That is what we are building through Waymaker, and we are proud to build it alongside Isar.”
Similarly, earlier this year, SEOPS purchased a dedicated Falcon 9 to run its own Waymaker rideshare program in an effort to bring more capacity to customers.
After its first successful mission, Isar Aerospace is focused on increasing its launch capacity. The company has already begun production on launch vehicles three through seven and is opening a 40,000 square meter production facility.
