Satellite data imagery company Iceye entered into a long-term strategic partnership with Safran.AI to develop advanced multi-sensor Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions for geospatial intelligence customers in the government sector.

The partnership, announced Monday during the GEOINT event in St. Louis, brings Iceye’s synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite constellation together with Safran.AI’s expertise in AI processing for SAR and electro-optical satellite imagery. The companies said that the partnership would enable tools that process intelligence data information in near real time by extracting the most critical insights for time-sensitive operators.

The partnership also builds on Safran.AI’s existing business with Iceye providing space-to-ground link solutions for the Iceye constellation.

Safran.AI CEO Jean-Yves Courtois called the partnership a major breakthrough for its customers in the geospatial intelligence community. “By closely collaborating with Iceye, we will achieve automatic SAR image analysis performance comparable to those of our electro-optical image detectors,” Courtois said in the announcement. “Furthermore, we will integrate both imagery sources through multi-modal AI, empowering governments with continuous monitoring capabilities tailored to both their commercial and sovereign data sources.”
