Dish Network has selected Ericsson to deliver a radio access and core network for Dish’s Narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IOT) network slated for completion in March 2020. Ericsson is the first wireless vendor Dish has announced for its network deployment.

Dish’s NB-IOT network will include Ericsson Radio System New Radio (NR)-capable radios. Dish has also installed, commissioned and successfully completed interoperability testing of the Ericsson Cloud Core network. Ericsson completed the initial Radio Frequency (RF) design for Dish’s nationwide the network earlier this year.

Ericsson and Dish Network have validated NB-IOT data transmissions based on the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) standards, including, for the first time in the United States, extended range connections up to 100 kilometers from a base station.
