Comtech‘s Montreal-based Satellite Networks Technologies Corp. business completed initial deliveries of its next generation very small aperture terminal (VSAT) systems to an unnamed Navy partner in the Asia Pacific region.
In a company announcement published Friday, Comtech said the VSAT systems underwent months of testing and performance validation by the end customer before they were selected for installation on a wide range of Naval ships, submarines, and ground-based stations to provide access to multi-orbit satellite communications capabilities across air, land, and sea domains. The VSAT systems Comtech delivered to the Asia Pacific Navy partner are based on its software-defined, multi-orbit Elevate VSAT technology, which includes IP traffic optimization technologies, mesh capabilities, and spread spectrum techniques to reduce interference generated when transmitting from small antennas.
“With nearly 60 years of experience designing and developing some of the most trusted VSAT systems in the industry, we remain committed to supporting our partner’s urgent operational requirements,” Daniel Gizinski, president of Comtech’s Satellite & Space Communications Segment, said in a statement. “This important milestone builds on the trust we have established with a key military ally in the Asia Pacific region and further illustrates Comtech’s global leadership in next generation VSAT systems.”
Gizinski was recently a guest on Via Satellite‘s On Orbit podcast and spoke about ground systems innovation and evolving customer needs with Senior Managing Editor Rachel Jewett.
