The UK space industry is calling on the government to commit 150 million British pounds a year to an innovation fund as part of a national program that would recognize the sector’s importance. Graham Peters, chair of UKSpace, the trade body that represents satellite operators and manufacturers such as Airbus, Inmarsat and US defense group Lockheed Martin, said a national space innovation fund was urgently needed to help commercialize research.
“We need Boris Johnson to put his money where his mouth is,” said Mr Peters.
