[Satellite TODAY 01-11-12] Control and synchronization product developer for terrestrial applications Frequency Electronics has been awarded follow-on contracts to provide timing and microwave frequency sources for the eighth and ninth satellites of the U.S. military’s Wideband Global Satcom (WGS) satellite program, the company announced Jan. 10.

   Under the new contracts, Frequency Electronics will continue to provide timing and microwave frequency products that were previously developed by Frequency and are currently deployed and operating in orbit. The company said the aggregate value of the two contracts is approximately $10 million.

   Frequency Electronics previously supplied the U.S. military with hardware for the first six WGS satellites and is currently under contract for the seventh.
