[Satellite TODAY 11-14-11] Raytheon received several production orders from the U.S. Navy for next-generation Navy Multiband Terminal protected Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) satellite communication (SATCOM) terminals, the company announced Nov. 11.
The new orders follow Raytheon’s initial award for 22 systems announced in September 2010, with NMT foreign military sales with terminals for Canada, the United Kingdom and The Netherlands now totaling more than 100 systems and spares valued at more than $145 million.
Raytheon’s NMT system is a family of multi-banded ship, submarine and shore communications terminals that aim to provide the Navy and international partners with new capability in support of its net-centric architecture.
“Last year’s milestone C decision and the subsequent production orders validate these tenets and NMT’s protected AEHF satcom capabilities. It further positions Raytheon as the industry leader in delivering this technology and sets the benchmark for future capabilities and programs,” Raytheon Vice President of Network Centric Systems’ Integrated Communication Systems Scott Whatmough said it a statement.
