Orange Business is integrating Eutelsat’s OneWeb satellite service into a mobile, emergency telecommunications unit called SafetyCase, Orange announced Wednesday.
SafetyCase is a compact solution can be deployed in emergency situations to create Wi-Fi connectivity bubbles, restoring access to voice, data, and video. The product has already been used during the floods in Valencia, Spain, and during Cyclone Chido in Mayotte in December 2024. Adding Eutelsat’s OneWeb connectivity brings in low latency Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite communication to complement the other technologies.
Nassima Auvray, director of Orange’s new Defense and Security division, called the collaboration a part of French national resilience.
“With Eutelsat’s OneWeb, we reinforce the promise of SafetyCase: restore communications when everything stops,” Auvray commented. “This European, sovereign advance gives firefighters, security forces, and local authorities a decisive capability: rapidly recreating a reliable network to coordinate, treat, alert, and decide.”
