Karrier One, a company deploying a decentralized telecom network, announced a partnership with Iridium Communications this week to integrate its direct-to-device service into the Karrier One ecosystem.

Karrier One, based in Singapore, describes its business as building a carrier-grade “decentralized mobile network” that is built on the Sui blockchain. It has historically focused on enabling deployers to set up local cellular infrastructure, but said the collaboration with Iridium brings it global reach. The companies have signed an MoU to integrate Iridium NTN Direct, the company’s standards-based direct-to-device (D2D) service. This will be followed by a bilateral agreement outlining technical integration and commercial rollout.

Karrier One explained it plans to deploy Iridium NTN Direct for narrowband IoT service for applications like maritime tracking, oil and gas monitoring, and environmental sensing.

“With Iridium’s constellation, we’re extending the Karrier One footprint from remote communities into the world’s most inaccessible locations,” said Samer Bishay, CEO of Karrier One. “From environmental monitoring in the Arctic to asset tracking in the middle of the ocean, deployers can now build IoT solutions without worrying about terrestrial coverage gaps.”
