Globalstar began construction on three additional tracking antennas and associated infrastructure at a ground station owned by OTE S.A. in Nemea, Greece. OTE signed a hosting agreement with Globalstar’s European subsidiary in 2020. The two companies have since built three six-meter tracking antennas and associated infrastructure at the Nemea site.
OTE is a member of the Telekom Group. Globalstar said Thursday that the new construction at the OTE site will support the planned expansion of its third-generation mobile satellite network, the Globalstar C-3 System. The expansion includes building up to 90 new tracking antennas in approximately 35 gateways worldwide.
“We again thank our U.S. Commercial Services officers at our embassies around the region for their invaluable assistance in 2020 that led to our partnership with OTE who has fully supported our expanding ground station needs,” L. Barbee Ponder, Globalstar’s General Counsel & Vice President of Regulatory Affairs said in the announcement.
