Google announced the Pixel 10 lineup of phones on Wednesday, continuing its work with Skylo to offer satellite emergency messaging, while T-Mobile also highlighted the T-Satellite service with Starlink on the phone.
Pixel 9 was the first Android phone to include Satellite SOS through Skylo. Satellite connectivity will also be on the Pixel 10 Series. Skylo announced Wednesday that Pixel 10 has new features including satellite-based location sharing in Android 16.
In addition, the Pixel Watch 4 offers standalone emergency messaging without a phone or cellular plan. The watch is equipped with Qualcomm Technologies’ new Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 chip for wearable platforms.
“This launch isn’t just a new feature — it redefines what’s possible with satellite connectivity in everyday devices, including the one that’s in your pocket or on your wrist,” said Parthsarathi Trivedi, CEO and co-founder of Skylo Technologies. “By embedding Skylo’s service into phones and wearables, we’re making coverage accessible to people in the moments that matter most.”
The Satellite SOS service via Skylo offers a direct connection to emergency services in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Australia, on Pixel 9 and 10 Series, and on Pixel Watch 4 in the continental U.S. with more regions to come.
Separately, the Pixel 10 is also compatible with T-Mobile’s recently launched T-Satellite messaging service with Starlink. T-Mobile announced Wednesday that the new Pixels will offer early access to some apps off-the-grid, including Google Maps and Google Messages.
T-Mobile also offers the T-Satellite service to other carrier’s customers, including AT&T and Verizon.
