Myriota is expanding its space services deal with Spire Global to add 16 more satellites for IoT connectivity.
Myriota has worked with Spire to deploy its constellation since 2021. Earlier this year, Myriota saw the launch of four new Spire satellites for its service. Up until this point, Spire has deployed network software for Myriota on its satellites, but these new satellites will have enhanced second-generation payloads for Myriota.
Australia-based Myriota said that expanding its space infrastructure will allow for more scalable and reliable IoT connectivity. Myriota serves use cases like agriculture and water to logistics with low power satellite-connected IoT sensors. The company said customers will see improved security, faster data access, reduced latency, and improved device control and firmware updating capabilities.
This expansion brings Myriota’s total of Spire space services satellites to more than 40 satellites.
“As Myriota’s constellation grows, so does our collaboration with them, expanding from software to hardware with payloads that address the critical gaps in IoT communication. With Spire Space Services we are thrilled to continue our long-term work with Myriota in reimagining how the world connects,” commented Spire CEO Theresa Condor.
