Viasat and Es’hailSat Sign Capacity Agreement in Middle East

Es’hailSat has won a new capacity deal with Viasat Energy Services, a business unit of Viasat. Viasat Energy Services is securing capacity on multiple transponders on the Es’hail-1 satellite located at the 25.5 degrees East hotspot and will also use teleport services from Es’hailSat’s facility in Doha, Qatar to provide VSAT services across Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The two companies announced the deal on Jan. 8, and follows on from an initial agreement between the two companies in 2023.

Viasat Energy Services and Es’hailSat together are looking to cater to government, maritime and oil & gas segments, among others, that it sees are in need for reliable high-speed connectivity in remote and challenging environments.

“Es’hailSat is excited to enhance and continue to deliver the satellite capacity as well as the teleport services needed for Viasat Energy Service’s VSAT Network in order to enable high speed connectivity across the Middle East and North Africa,” Ali Ahmed Al-Kuwari, president and CEO of Es’hailSat, said in a statement.
