[Via Satellite 03-22-2016] AsiaSat has reached a multi-year lease agreement with Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) for a C-band transponder on AsiaSat 7. The company will use capacity from the AsiaSat 7 satellite to increase the number of Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) television services in India. SPN will start broadcasting a new bouquet of SD and HD channels to Indian cable and pay-TV networks using the satellite beginning in April.
“As we continue to expand our TV channel offerings, availability of transponder space is a critical requirement. Our partnership with AsiaSat enables us to expand our reach into the Indian sub-continent delivering quality programming to our diverse audiences,” said Humsa Dhir, SVP and head of public relations and corporate communications, Sony Pictures Networks India.
