Emcore Expands Optiva Microwave Offering with New Fiber Optic System

[Satellite TODAY 12-12-12] Compound semiconductor-based components and subsystems developer Emcore has launched new Optiva Satcom band microwave fiber optic transmitters and receivers for satellite communications, RF antenna remoting and other microwave applications, the company announced Dec. 12.

The new products supplement Emcore’s Optiva ultra-wideband RF fiber optic transport system by adding band-specific C-, X-, Ku-, or Ka-band transmitter and receiver modules compatible with its modular or flange-mount Optiva platform configurations.
The addition of the transport system also expands Emcore’s existing Optiva Platform supporting 50 MHz to 18, 22 or 40 GHz broadband microwave transport, reference oscillators, IRIG, IF, L- and S-band, plus audio, video, data and Ethernet.
“The Optiva Satcom Band RF Fiber Optic Transport System represents a significant breakthrough in microwave transmission technology from Emcore,” Emcore Vice President of Advanced Systems Frank Weiss said in a statement. “By leveraging our existing ultra-wideband 50 MHz — 40 GHz Optiva products as building blocks, Emcore is able to provide high-performance externally modulated RF-banded technology at directly modulated technology price points.”
