[Satellite TODAY 11-21-12] It has been an extremely busy day for International Launch Services (ILS). The launch provider announced Nov. 21 that ILS President Frank McKenna left the company immediately on the same day it successfully orbited the EchoStar 16 communications satellite for pay-TV operator Dish Network on a Proton rocket from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.
McKenna is being replaced by Phil Slack, the company’s vice president and chief financial officer, according to ILS. ILS’ owner, Russian Proton contractor Khrunichev also did not specify a reason for the management change.
