[Satellite TODAY 11-20-12] The Space Data Association (SDA) has selected Intelsat Vice President of Network Operations Ron Busch as its next Chairman, effective Nov. 1, the Association announced Nov. 19.
In his current position at Intelsat, Busch is responsible for designing and implementing satellite-based data networks, video distribution systems and transmit/receive facilities and the design and implementation of the IntelsatOne global terrestrial network. Working for Intelsat for over 15 years, Busch was previously responsible for the overall management of Intelsat’s multiple operations centers.
Busch has over 25 years in satellite communications, having held various engineering and operations positions in the U.S. Air Force, Satellite Business Systems, MCI, Timeplex and Hughes Communications. He succeeds former Intelsat Vice President of Satellite Operations and Engineering Toby Nassif.
“In its first three years, SDA has made a substantial contribution to assuring the safety of satellite operations, especially in the geosynchronous orbit, which is vital for satellite communications,” Busch said in his acceptance. “I look forward to building on this success, growing our membership and working with partners who can provide high fidelity orbital debris data that will allow us to improve our products, and ultimately, our members’ ability to operate safely. I also look forward to implementing the RFI/EMI initiatives that will help drive us toward an interference-free environment.”
