[Satellite TODAY 10-19-12] Surrey Satellite Technology LLC (SSTL) has secured a contract for the batch production of its SGR-10 Space GPS Receiver and selected Aeroflex’s Colorado Springs, Colo. division as its partner for the in-country manufacture of electronic assemblies, SSTL announced Oct. 19.

Global provider of high-performance microelectronic components Aeroflex will be SSTL’s U.S.-based manufacturing partner and provide short-term manufacturing of subsystem electronics to SSTL specifications. The manufacturing will take place in Colorado Springs, Colo., with the final flight hardware integration and testing at SSTL’s Englewood, Colo. facilities.
“We are delighted to work with Aeroflex on this first contract. With Aeroflex’s facilities in nearby Colorado Springs, this is an important step in the development of our in-country capabilities to support our growing U.S. subsystem customer base, and we look forward to a long and fruitful partnership,” SST-US CEO Dr. John Paffett said in a statement.
SSTL’s SGR-10 Space GPS Receiver is designed to provide position, velocity, and time determination information for spacecraft navigation in low-Earth orbit and has been supplied to NASA, the United States Air Force and European Space Agency.
