[Satellite TODAY 09-28-12] U.K. satellite hardware manufacturer ViaLite Communications has unveiled a new product that allows simultaneous transmission of L-band traffic and a reference signal over a single fiber, the company announced Sept. 28.

ViaLite designed the link for applications where remote equipment shares a common frequency reference in the range between 5MHz and 20MHz. Reference and L-band traffic are transported on different wavelengths to minimize intermodulation and can even be transmitted in opposite directions along the same fiber.
“This product allows customers to connect their modem to the LNB or BUC via fiber without worrying about the complexity of transmitting two signals separately,” ViaLite Spokesman Martin Ryan said in a statement. “It is as easy to install as a length of coax, yet brings the benefits of using optical fiber.”
