[Satellite TODAY 08-29-12] FSS operator SES has signed a capacity agreement with satellite capacity and networking equipment provider Romantis to support growing connectivity needs across Russia and Central Asia, the companies announced Aug. 29.
Romantis will utilize 24 MHz of Ku-band capacity on SES’ NSS-12 satellite at the 57 degrees East orbital slot to deliver a variety of communication services and VSAT hardware packages supporting corporate networks, broadband access, SCADA, GSM backhaul and video services.
“Companies in the fast-growing economies of Russia and the CIS are expanding their services rapidly and fueling the demand for satellite capacity,” Romantis Managing Director and CEO Harald Stange said in a statement. “It is vital that we partner with a leading global satellite operator who has the technical expertise and is committed to growing with us. The high-powered NSS-12 satellite at 57 degrees East offers excellent coverage over our core markets, allowing us to fulfill our customers’ needs.”
