[Satellite TODAY 08-10-12] Canadian satellite Norsat continued to drive revenue growth in both its Sinclair Technologies subsidiary and its microwave products segment during its second fiscal quarter of 2012, according to its latest financial results issued Aug. 9.
Norsat’s consolidated revenues increased 22 percent from the same period last year to $10.5 million. The company also turned in its 23nd consecutive quarter of positive EBITDA with a 41 percent year-over-year improvement to $700,000.
Norsat acquired Sinclair in January 2011. The division has continued to perform above consensus forecasts since merging with its new parent company.
“[Sinclair] has helped to diversify our product lines with antenna and RF conditioning products,” Norsat President and CEO Amiee Chan said in a statement. “It has also firmly positioned Norsat in the commercial market, and particularly with the public safety and transportation market sectors. Microwave Products segment also posted significant gains during the quarter, reflecting increased demand for products including our customized Ka-band receivers. We also successfully responded to a customer request for products suitable for airborne applications, tapping a new market in the process.”
