[Satellite TODAY 07-13-12] SES has certified the first SAT-IP converter by Inverto Digital Labs, a Luxembourg-based developer and marketer of consumer and professional broadcast reception products, the operator announced July 12.
SES developed the SAT-IP standard and trademark that supports Inverto’s Multibox SAT-IP converter. SAT-IP converts satellite-delivered programs into the Internet Protocol (IP) standard at the point of reception in the home.
“SAT-IP is a quantum leap in satellite reception and will make it even more competitive with other reception modes,” SES Vice President of Reception Systems Thomas Wrede said in a statement. “With SAT-IP, we can fulfill the consumer need to serve a multitude of platforms at home with an excellent satellite signal quality and a variety of content. Satellite TV anywhere in the home, on tablet devices, smartphones, PCs or smart TVs.”
