[Satellite TODAY 06-05-12] SES has entered into a long-term capacity agreement with 2DAY Telecom to expand the reach of its GSM backhaul services throughout Kazakhstan, the operator announced June 4.
SES said 2DAY Telecom increased capacity utilization aboard its NSS-12 satellite 50 percent to deliver mobile communication services over Kazakhstan’s mountainous terrain. NSS-12 is currently used to provide high-quality telephone service to meet the country’s GSM demands.
“As mobile communications continues to be the one of the fastest growing sectors in Kazakhstan, satellite is being established as one of the most reliable forms of infrastructure that can overcome geographical barriers and provide extensive coverage,” 2DAY Telecom CEO Viktor Gryban said in a statement. “NSS-12’s high-powered dedicated beam provides excellent coverage over Kazakhstan, allowing us to expand our services into new regions within the country.”
