[Satellite TODAY 04-04-12] The Indian Space Research Organization’s (ISRO) commercial services division Antrix Corp. has signed an agreement with Astrium to launch the Spot 6 advanced French remote sensing satellite on an ISRO Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), the organization confirmed April 3.
Under the agreement, the Astrium-built Spot 6 will be launched on-board PSLV during the second half of 2012. ISRO said the PSLV used to launch Spot 6 also would carry other co-passenger payloads.
The agreement between Antrix and Astrium is a part of a long-term pact signed between the two agencies in September 2008. In November 2010, ISRO and Astrium collaborated to build Avanti’s Hylas advanced communication satellite for a European customer under a commercial contract.
ISRO officials said further collaboration possibilities between Antrix and Astrium would be explored in the coming days.
