[Satellite TODAY 04-03-12] Eutelsat has demonstrated its satellite broadband solutions in the Macedonian city of Ohrid to a regional meeting of the Broadband Commission for Digital Development, the FSS operator announced April 2.
The Broadband Commission was launched in 2010 to ramp up the United Nations’ efforts to meet its millennium development goals. Eutelsat demonstrated the capability of its Tooway service provided via the Ka-Sat high-throughput satellite to extend broadband to rural communities scattered throughout the region’s rugged mountainous countryside and to support Macedonia’s e-government initiatives.
Executive Secretary of the Eutelsat Intergovernmental Organization Christian Roisse also signed a protocol April 2 with Macedonian Minister of Information Ivo Ivanovski to promote satellite broadband using Ka-Sat for government services, consumers and enterprises across the country.
