[Satellite TODAY 03-09-12] Amos satellite fleet operator Spacecom has made “one-hop” Ku-band capacity available on the Amos-3 satellite to serve an array of data communication needs between the U.S. East Coast and the Middle East, the company announced March 8.

Amos-3 was launched in 2008 to the 4 degrees West orbital slot. The satellite’s location and cross-connection Ku-band beams enable it to offer direct connectivity “one-hop” service between locations without resorting to outside fiber or any other satellite connections.
“We are very excited to have this additional capacity that we can now offer to our current and potential customers,” Spacecom Vice President of North American Sales Drew Marks said in a statement. “With one-hop capabilities, Amos-3 is in a unique position to send and receive a vast amount of data communications between these two geographic areas.”
