[Satellite TODAY 11-16-11] UAE-based satellite broadcasting company YahLive has signed a partnership agreement with telecom operator Du for collaboration on satellite broadcasting services, the companies announced Nov. 15.
YahLive, a partnership entity between Yahsat and SES, will allow Du to establish uplink services to its Y1A satellite located at the 52.5 degrees East orbital slot. YahLive said the orbital position is key for UAE-based TV broadcasters as it establishes easy access to available HD satellite offerings.
“The UAE is a leading media market in the region and so it is extremely important that we offer an uplink service towards YahLive satellite to UAE-based TV channels using our competitive high bit rate for the HD channels, which will keep high-quality, and strengthen our position as HD hot spot in the region,” YahLive CEO Mohamed Youssif said in a statement. “Since our launch, we have received significant interest from broadcasters who have been keen to extend their audience reach through our HD offering and this agreement will now allow us to facilitate them.”
Financial details of the partnership agreement were not disclosed.
