[Satellite TODAY 10-20-11] Thuraya Telecommunications has appointed Patrick Chenel as its new CFO, the international mobile satellite services (MSS) operator announced Oct. 19.

   In addition to leading Thuraya’s financial management, planning and reporting functions, Chenel also will be responsible for maintaining and developing the company’s relationships with relevant financial institutions and strategic suppliers across the globe.

   Chenel previously served as CFO for the real estate arm of the Qatar Investment Authority, Qatari Diar, with experience overseeing business performance and strategic growth initiatives through various international assignments in the UAE, Qatar, Canada, China and France.
