[Satellite TODAY 09-27-11] Wholesale 4G LTE hybrid network operator LightSquared signed a wholesale agreement with AirTouch Communications to develop telecommunications products that can converge the service to include voice, data, video and traditional landline capabilities, the companies announced Sept. 26.
AirTouch will use the LightSquared network to offer its own branded wireless connectivity. LightSquared said the deal opens up an important new revenue stream for the company as consumers and businesses that purchase AirTouch products can sign up for accompanying AirTouch wireless connectivity. AirTouch also will offer its devices through LightSquared’s other wholesale partners.
LightSquared has now signed 15 partner agreements with companies to develop mobile services, devices and applications on LightSquared’s open network. “This agreement will help us energize our business model to deliver a much broader range of innovative new products and services,” AirTouch CEO Hide Kanakubo said in a statement.
