MTG Viasat Broadcasting, a free- and pay-TV operator in Scandinavia and the Baltic States, selected Never.no’s Interactivity Suite (IS) and broadcast add-on to enable its partner, Harris RTX, to display Twitter and Facebook feeds during its live broadcast of the UEFA Champions League playoff games.
In a Sept. 7 announcement, Never.no said its technology aimed to allow Viasat Broadcasting’s viewers to interact with the broadcast. Viasat said it sports editors and producers used the tool to integrate social media content into the broadcast graphics in real time and push dynamic polls via a synchronized Facebook application.
“Social media is fast becoming an integral part of our service offering, so we needed a way to manage that content and get it on air. The Never.no Interactivity Suite bridges the gap between our playout center and our highly active social media sites. They are no longer two disconnected departments. Now they function seamlessly, and one can control the other with a single tool,” Viasat Broadcasting Head of Sports Stian Kleppo said in a statement.
