[Satellite TODAY 08-31-11] Hong Kong-based PCCW Global and Vizada Networks have interconnected their MPLS networks to expand the international terrestrial and satellite services coverage of both companies, PCCW announced Aug. 30.
The companies said their customers would benefit from an enhanced Layer 3 VPN service offering as a result of the technology cooperation. PCCW Global’s MPLS network covers more than 1,500 cities in 110 countries stretching across Asia, Africa, the Americas, Europe and the Middle East. Vizada Networks will compliment PCCW’s MPLS networks with its existing international satellite coverage.
“This is a very positive development that will enable expansion of the satellite and terrestrial footprint of both companies. We will be positioned to provide PCCW’s established MPLS network services whilst covering current capacity and complexity requirements with our established connectivity services, in addition to being ready for future demands,” Vizada Networks CEO Stefano Vittor said in a statement.
