[Satellite TODAY 08-22-11] In an effort to expand its presence in the Latin American market, Newtec is planning senior staff additions at its regional headquarters in São Paulo and the roll-out of a new partner-driven business program ‘bePART’ in Brazil and the surrounding region, the company announced Aug. 19.
Newtec said the new appointees would provide additional support for Newtec’s current customer base and distributor network, and grow the company’s business in Latin America as a whole. The company’s initial target markets for its business are Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia and Peru.
In a statement, Newtec Sales Director for Latin America Bart Van Utterbeeck said that the company’s bePART program also is putting increased focus on local vertical markets such as broadcasting, mining, telecoms, government and broadband access. “There is a large regional demand for affordable broadband connectivity on various levels, ranging from ‘pro-sumers’ to the different vertical corporate sectors of the traditional VSAT business. We have also seen expansion in satellite news gathering, with demand for HD links from news and sports events.”
