[Satellite TODAY 08-04-11] Machine-to-machine (M2M) products and services provider Numerex launched a new multi-year, battery-powered satellite solution that uses a lightweight, rugged global tracking tag, the company announced Aug. 3.
Numerex said the device was designed for use as a wireless sensor hub to provide worldwide coverage and additional systems monitoring, and is capable of delivering years of uninterrupted service on a single field-replaceable battery.
“The new global tracking tag can be installed, activated and operational in less than one minute. It is the device of choice for implementations requiring low maintenance, long-life solutions. It can act as a wireless hub to enable monitoring and alerting of sensors ranging from simple door open/close or air temperature, to more complex like flow rate and tank level,” the company said in a statement.
