[Satellite TODAY 06-07-11] Content costs are the number one concern for The Cable & Satellite Broadcasting Association of Asia’s (CASBAA) operators in 2011, with 71.4 percent stating that costs are affecting overall business, according to a recent CASBAA survey of its 24 members issued June 6.
CASBAA’s TV, DTH and IPTV operators across the Asia Pacific participated in the seven-question survey to provide an indication of the concerns that platforms in the region have. Content costs were followed by distribution costs and regulatory environment, both yielding the concern of 42.9 percent of CASBAA’s operator members, CASBAA CEO Simon Twiston Davies said in a statement.
“Born out of these findings, CASBAA now works to address regulatory and piracy issues with the comprehensive annual Regulating for Growth overview, as well as a dedicated Wireless Access Group to tackle satellite issues and ongoing intellectual property rights lobbying — to name but a few,” Twiston Davies said.
