[Satellite TODAY 05-13-11] Thaicom received a significant contribution in revenues from its IPStar satellite subsidiary during the 2011 first quarter, including a 40.3 percent year-over-year increase in IPStar bandwidth services, the Asian commercial satellite operator announced in its latest financial results issued May 12.
Thaicom said IPStar’s bandwidth revenues were primarily driven by increased bandwidth usage in India, Japan and Australia. Revenues from the Thaicom 2 and Thaicom 5 satellites and related services were reported at $18.5 million. The operator said it maintained 374 television channels on the Thaicom 5 platform at the end of the quarter.
Thaicom’s consolidated net cash flow stood at $24.1 million. As of March 31, the company’s cash earnings and equivalent to cash was $56.1 million. The operator said it recorded a $462,000 loss due to an unfavorable Baht/U.S. dollar exchange rate.
