[Satellite TODAY 05-02-11] Satellite communications provider Pactel has been awarded a multi-year contract to manage SamoaTel’s international telephony business, Pactel announced April 29.
    The transition to Pactel management will involve an initial review of SamoaTel’s current international agreements, assistance with re-design and improvement of its international trunking network and monitoring of key performance parameters.
    "This will, in turn, provide the framework for renegotiation of existing bilateral supply agreements and an upgrade to the existing network infrastructure. This also will yield savings against the current outgoings and reduced downward pressure on call termination rates," Pactel Executive Director Steffen Holzt said in a statement.
