[Satellite TODAY 04-19-11] The Space Data Association’s (SDA) Space Data Center has completed its full operational capability readiness review, which determined that its system is ready to be employed, maintained and begin operations, the SDA announced April 18.
The SDA’s main technical adviser and systems developer on the project, Analytical Graphics, completed work less than a year after winning the Space Data Center development contract, SDA said.
The Space Data Center, based in the Isle of Man, is an automated space situational awareness system, which aims to enable satellite operators to share operator-owned orbital data to improve the safety and efficiency of space operations. The center began initial operations in July for SDA founding members Inmarsat, Intelsat and SES.
SDA said it is now pursuing data-sharing agreements to improve the scope and quality of data available for these critical operations.
