[Satellite TODAY Insider 04-12-11] Sky Deutschland has reached a deal with HD Plus in Germany to expand the offering of HD channels to its satellite pay-TV subscribers.
The deal, announced April 11, notes that HD Plus channels will be available via most of Sky HD satellite receivers. The cooperation enables Sky subscribers with a Sky NDS-Smartcard and a Sky HD receiver via satellite to access the HD Plus channels RTL HD, VOX HD, RTL 2 HD, Sat.1 HD, ProSieben HD, kabel eins HD, Sixx HD and SPORT1 HD.
The channels will be available free of charge via certified Sky HD set-top boxes for up to 12 months for all Sky HD customers with satellite reception. Then the feel will be 50 euros ($72.31) per year in addition to a Sky subscription.
Sky also has expanded its Sky Go service to offer more content on more devices and platforms, allowing subscribers to access content on four different devices at the same time.
The new addition to the service, Sky Go on the Web, extends viewing flexibility to the Sky Sport channels via laptops and computers. Sky Go on the Web also includes on-demand access to movies from the Sky Film service as well as a library of sporting events.
The operator is also trying to take advantage of the iPad, unveiling an updated Sky Go app enhanced to deliver improved performance to sports fans as well as adding support for the iPad 2.
