[Satellite TODAY 03-16-11] Norsat International released multi-band versions of its GlobeTrekker and Rover satellite systems, which will include support for Ka-band, Norsat announced March 15.
    The new GlobeTrekker and Rover systems aim to offer operators enhanced operational flexibility by giving them a choice between the Ku-, X- and Ka-band. Norsat said GlobeTrekker recently was tested at a coalition forces warfare interoperability demonstration for extensive use in combat zones.
    “The multi-band capability of Norsat systems gives defense customers the ability to utilize the increased Ka and X band capacity that will become available over the next few years,” the company said in a statement.
    Norsat also will introduce two new low noise block-downconverters — the 9000H-2 and the 9000X-2 — in Ka-band.
