[Satellite TODAY 03-14-11] European signal and data management solutions provider Work Microwave is set to introduce a new family of Ka-band frequency converters and upgrades to its DVB-S2 product offering at the SATELLITE 2011 conference, the company announced March 11.
Work Microwave’s latest developments for its DVB-S2 IP-modem platform include: an increase in its packet rate and transmission speeds, more options for users to set their own preferences, adaptive coding modulation and generic stream encapsulation for bandwidth efficiency, switchable IF 70/140 MHz and L-band support.
The Ka-Band indoor and outdoor converters support signals up to 31 GHz. In a statement, Work Microwave CEO Andreas Hausotter said the converters were developed in response to growing demand for bandwidth. “The introduction of Ka-Band support is a natural extension to our traditional frequency converter portfolio that we feel the industry will embrace immediately. Lower frequency ranges will continue to become more and more crowded and the industry needs alternatives.”
