[Satellite TODAY 03-02-11] Thales Alenia Space established a separately owned German subsidiary, Thales Alenia Space Deutschland GmbH, in Stuttgart, the manufacturer announced March 1.
    Thales said the subsidiary aims to help the company expand its business in Germany, where OHB-System and Astruim have generated considerable business in the European institutional and civil-space sectors.
    The company appointed Thales Air Systems Director Sven Carstensen to head the Thales Deutschland entity. Carstensen said the division initially will concentrate on integrating activities focused on the EGNOS and Galileo ground systems for navigation activities as well as expanding its portfolio of activities to additional space business domains.
